Henrietta, NY : Man, 86, dies after car crashes into culvert on Monday, December 1, 2014
Authorities say an 86-year-old man has died after his car crashed on a suburban Rochester road and landed upside down in a drainage culvert.
The Monroe County Sheriff's Office tells the Democrat and Chronicle that Gilbert Pfleger of the town of Gates was traveling on Jefferson Road in nearby Henrietta early Monday afternoon when he drove across two lanes of oncoming traffic and a sidewalk before hitting a tree.
Deputies say his car overturned and landed on its roof in a drainage culvert with 2 to 3 feet of water.
A man who saw the crash and pulled Pfleger out of the car.
The injured man was taken to Strong Memorial Hospital, where police say he died overnight from his injuries.
The cause of the crash is being investigated.
