Kirksville, MO : Hannibal man killed in crash near Macon on Thursday morning, February 16, 2017

A Hannibal, Mo., man was killed Thursday morning in a traffic accident on Highway 63 near Macon, Mo.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Sterling E. Owens, 62, of Hannibal, died in the crash about three miles north of Macon.

The report says Owens was driving a 2005 Chevrolet truck northbound around 8:25 a.m. when his vehicle crossed the center line and struck a 2016 Volvo Tractor Trailer head on.

Owens was not wearing a seat belt, according to the report.

The tractor trailer driver was not injured in the crash.
