Tazewell County, VA : Richlands woman dies in car crash near Cedar Bluff in Tazewell County on Saturday May 14, 2016.

A Richlands woman was killed today in an early morning car crash near Cedar Bluff in Tazewell County.

Senior State Trooper B.C. Patton said the driver, Latesha Danielle Smith, 22, was pronounced dead at the scene after her car ran off Rt. 631 (Indian Creek Road).

“At about 1 a.m. today, residents heard a crash but could not locate the vehicle,” he said, adding that it was located after first-responders arrived.

“The vehicle ran off the road to the left, striking a tree and overturning in a creek,” he said. "It appears speed was a factor in the crash."

Patton said Smith was the only occupant of the vehicle.
