One man was killed and another injured in a fiery collision between two pickup trucks on Highway 70 west of Hot Springs around 12:30 p.m. Thursday.
Both lanes of Highway 70 were closed for around two hours as emergency crews worked to remove the body of the driver of one of the pickup trucks from his vehicle, which was impacted on the driver's side by the second pickup truck. Both trucks caught fire after the collision, and were extinguished by firefighters from the 70 West Fire Department.
Both trucks were located on the north side of the roadway, in the 7000 block of Highway 70 west, just east of the Garland/Hot Spring county line.
Arkansas State Police Trooper 1st Class Brian Burke said the cause of the wreck is under investigation, but involved an eastbound Chevrolet pickup and westbound Ford pickup. The driver of the Ford was pronounced dead at the scene, and the driver of the Chevrolet was transported by LifeNet to a local hospital, he said.
