Las Vegas, NV : Four people seriously injured in wrong-way crash on US 95 on Thursday December 31 2015.
At least four people, including the driver of a car that was going the wrong way, were hospitalized after a crash that closed U.S. Highway 95 for four hours on New Year's Eve.
Nevada Highway Patrol troopers were called to the four-vehicle wreck about 11:30 p.m. Thursday on U.S. 95, north of Ann Road, the agency wrote in a release Friday.
A car was southbound in the northbound lanes when it struck three other vehicles, NHP Trooper Loy Hixson said Friday morning.
The driver of that car was arrested on charges of DUI, Hixson said.
Everyone involved in the wreck, including the driver who caused the wreck, was taken to University Medical Center with injuries that were not life-threatening, Hixson said. It appeared the worst injury involved in the crash was a broken leg, he said.
It was unclear Friday morning exactly how many people had been involved in the crash. The ages and genders of the hospitalized people were not available, he said.
Even though no one was seriously injured, debris from the four vehicles was strewn across the highway and U.S. 95 was closed for more than four hours while tow trucks and crews from the Nevada Department of Transportation removed the wreckage, Hixson said. The freeway reopened about 3:45 a.m., he said.
