SILVER CREEK TWP, MI : Boy, 4, among 2 killed in crash on Sunday, February 26th 2017

A 4-year-old boy and a 21-year-old man were killed early Sunday morning in a 1-vehicle crash on School Street near Tice Avenue, according to a news release from the Cass County Sheriff’s Office.
Jordan White, 21, of Dowagiac, was driving west on School Street just after 3 a.m. when he lost control of the vehicle, entered the oncoming lane, then struck several trees after leaving the roadway, according to the release. White and Wyatt Lister, 4, of Dowagiac, were pronounced dead at the scene. Injured in the crash was Lister’s mother, Allison Hurry, 20, of Dowagiac.
Hurry was transported to South Bend Memorial Hospital, the release stated.
Alcohol and speed may have been factors in the crash, according to the news release, and none of the passengers were wearing seatbelts. The accident remains under investigation.
Assisting at the scene were Pokagon Tribal Police, Michigan State Police, Indian Lake Fire Department, Sister Lakes Fire Department, Pokagon Fire Department and Pride Care Ambulance.
