Shelby County, AL : Injuries, fuel spill result from crash at Meadowlark Drive on Thursday, september 11, 2014
A crash between an 18-wheeler blocked lanes along U.S. 280 westbound in the Brook Highland area Thursday, hospitalizing one and causing traffic delays as the lunch rush began.
The crash occurred about 10:50 a.m. at Meadowlark Drive, at one time blocking the left two lanes.
One person was treated at the scene and taken to a local hospital with injuries that weren't life-threatening, Cahaba Valley Fire Chief Jim Witherington said.
A fuel leak from the 18-wheeler required lane closures. By about 1 p.m., the scene had been cleared, Witherington said.
