TRAVERSE CITY, MI : Nine injured in multi-car crash on U.S. 31 North between Five Mile and Holiday roads near Traverse City on Monday, 23rd July 2018

Nine people suffered injuries after a car crossed the centerline and hit two vehicles, Grand Traverse County sheriff’s deputies said.

Initial investigation results show a 71-year-old Florida man drove southbound on U.S. 31 North between Five Mile and Holiday roads near Traverse City just before 5:42 p.m. The driver crossed the centerline and hit a vehicle a 21-year-old Kingsley woman drove, according to a sheriff’s department release.

The Florida driver then hit a second vehicle, this one driven by a 70-year-old Illinois man, according to the release.

Nine people were hurt in the crashes, including a passenger in the “at-fault” vehicle and the Illinois man, who both suffered “serious injuries,” according to the release.

Sheriff’s Capt. Randy Fewless said authorities considered none of the injuries life-threatening.

Deputies continue investigating the incident.
