Los Angeles, CA : Sheriff’s deputy injured in collision on Sunday, 21st August, 2016
A local sheriff’s deputy was hurt and taken to the hospital Sunday following a two-vehicle traffic collision in Valencia, emergency response officials said.
The crash involving a deputy with the Los Angeles County Sheriff Department’s Parks Bureau happened on The Old Road at Magic Mountain Parkway shortly before 12:30 p.m. Sunday.A white Ford Explorer and a black-and-white sheriff’s patrol car were involved in the collision.
“A deputy was rear-ended,” Los Angeles County Fire Department Supervisor Cheryl Sims said. “(She) was alert and conscious, transported to the hospital.”
Paramedics treated the deputy at the intersection, secured her to a stretcher and placed her in an ambulance.
One deputy responding to the crash described the deputy’s injuries as “minor.”
One firefighter at the scene told The Signal: “She’s got neck pain.”
The deputy was treated and released from the hospital Sunday, Parks Bureau Deputy Johnie Jones said Monday.
“She was off one day but she’ll be coming back to work tomorrow,” he said.
The two inside lanes of The Old Road were closed for about 20 minutes while officers with the California Highway Patrol investigated the crash.
All lanes were reopened at 12:53 p.m., according to the CHP.
