Marion, OH : Bucyrus man killed in a crash in Marion County on Saturday afternoon, April 16, 2016
A Bucyrus man was killed in a Marion County crash Saturday afternoon at the intersection of U.S. 23 and Marion County 195, the Marion post of the State Highway Patrol reported.
Helen Ritter, 46, of Delaware, was driving a 2008 Mazda Tribute northbound on U.S. 23 around 1:18 p.m. when a 2006 Honda Accord driven by Frances M. Reiter, 79, of Bucyrus, pulled from the center median area to cross the northbound lanes. The Mazda struck the Honda’s passenger side, spinning the Mazda around and forcing the Honda into a ditch, the patrol said.
The Honda’s passenger, Edward Reiter, 80, was transported to Marion General Hospital and pronounced dead.
Frances Reiter was transported to Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center by MedFlight; and Ritter and her passengers, Matt Ritter, 37; and Ellie Hall, 4, both of Delaware, were transported to Marion General Hospital, the patrol said.
Marion Township Fire and EMS, First Consolidated Fire and EMS, 1st Advanced EMS, Salt Rock Fire Department and B&B Towing assisted at the scene.
The crash is under investigation.
