State police say it happened just before 7:30 p.m. Thursday when a southbound car operated by Karri Benoir, 23, of Barre, crossed the median just north of exit 11. She was reported to be driving a 2004 Toyota Corolla.
Police say 30-year-old Brendon Cousino, of Richmond, who was northbound driving a 1999 Honda Civic, was pronounced dead at the scene.

State police confirmed that a preliminary investigation showed the vehicle driven by Benoir drifted across the median before the crash.
