CHULA VISTA, CA : Cars on fire after crash in Chula Vista on Sunday, 7th July 2019

The Chula Vista Fire Department responded to reports of a crash Sunday that left some of the vehicles involved on fire.

The CVFD tweeted a photo of the crash, which occurred on northbound Interstate 5 near State Route 54, just before 1 p.m. on Sunday. A trailer towing two jet skis detached from a vehicle and crashed into a white truck. The truck caught fire when it was struck by another car, and the jet skis fell into the road.he crash caused temporary traffic delays on northbound I-5 Sunday afternoon as firefighters worked to clear the area and rescue the victims.

Darrell Roberts with the Chula Vista Firefighters Local 2180 said one driver involved, an adult male, had minor injuries but was not taken to the hospital. Another driver, an elderly woman, had minor injuries and was taken to the hospital, Roberts said.

Good Samaritans pulled over to help and the driver of the vehicle hauling the jet skis cooperated with law enforcement, Roberts said.
