Fort Collins, CO : Woman seriously injured, driver arrested in collision with vehicle in Laporte on Saturday, May 14, 2016
A woman was hospitalized with serious injuries Saturday morning after being struck and trapped by a vehicle following an argument with the driver.
Sheriff's deputies were called to a crash on the 3400 block of West County Road 54G in Laporte just before 7 a.m. Saturday on a report that an adult female was trapped underneath a vehicle.
Upon further investigation, deputies discovered the woman and an adult male, 22-year-old Joe Thompson, had been arguing while driving, according to a release, and she had requested to leave the vehicle.
When the woman attempted to walk away, the Larimer County Sheriff's Office reports, she was struck by the vehicle and became trapped. Thompson reportedly tried to leave the scene but was restrained by first responders.
The woman was taken to an area hospital with serious injuries.
A 2-year-old child was in the vehicle during the incident but was unharmed.
Thompson was interview by investigators, arrested and booked into the Larimer County jail. He faces several charges, including first degree assault, a Class 3 felony.
