TUCSON, AZ : Cyclist John Timbers killed in hit-and-run on Tuesday, 17th October 2023

John Timbers, who founded La Vuelta de Bisbee cycling race in 1976, was struck and killed by a hit-and-run driver Tuesday morning.

Details are limited, but authorities said the collision was reported around 4:30 a.m. near East Grant Road and North Sahuara Avenue.

Timbers was part of the AZ Cycling community.
