Sacramento, CA : Wrecked car, sheared Highway 101 pole in Healdsburg crash on Tuesday, March 21st 2017
A driver headed north on Highway 101 in Healdsburg Tuesday night or Wednesday morning crashed through a highway light pole, flipping the vehicle into a field, according to the CHP.
The impact sheared off the pole and the 1996 Honda Accord appeared to have rolled multiple times before stopping on its side. Officers consider it a hit-and-run crash as no one was there when officers arrived, said CHP Officer Steve Fricke.Healdsburg police found the damaged Honda about 2:30 a.m. in a field near the Lytton Springs Road highway offramp. California Highway Patrol and Geyserville firefighters also responded and because of the extensive damage to the sedan they searched the area, fearing a badly injured driver or passengers could have been thrown or wandered off. Geyserville firefighters used thermal imaging equipment to search the dark field, said fire Capt. Joe Stewart.
Two people later arrived at Kaiser Medical Center in Santa Rosa with injuries and told officers they were passengers in the crash, Fricke said.
What time the crash happened, what caused it and who was driving remained under investigation.
Fricke asked anyone with information to contact officers at 707-588-1400.
