Livermore, CA : Fatal crash on Interstate 580 on Monday, 21st September, 2020

One person died Monday in a crash on Interstate 580 in Livermore, a wreck that kept three lanes of the freeway closed for more than two hours, the California Highway Patrol said.

Specific details of the wreck were not available immediately, as the CHP was still doing its early investigation. The crash happened around 1:22 p.m. in the westbound direction of I-580, just west of the Airway Boulevard exit, the CHP said.

It was not clear immediately how many vehicles were involved, but at least one vehicle flipped more than once, according to the CHP.

A Sig Alert for severe traffic remained in effect at 3:45 p.m. The CHP issued the alert just before 2 p.m., because the three right lanes were blocked.
