Homeless man was lucky to be alive in crash on Interstate 471
Police in southwest Ohio say a motorist and a sleeping homeless man he hit with his car are lucky to be alive.
Cincinnati police said it happened early Friday when a man driving north on Interstate 471 near downtown ran off the highway, down a hill and into a bridge. The vehicle struck a homeless man who was sleeping under the bridge.
Police Lt. Tim Brown tells The Cincinnati Enquirer that neither was seriously injured. He called it "a miracle."
The homeless man was taken to a hospital. The driver of the car managed to crawl out. Brown said the "whole car just crushed into the front seat." He left and was found walking nearby.
Police aren't sure what caused it. No names have been released.
