Hazleton, PA : Hazleton woman killed in one-car crash on Tuesday September 6 2016

An elderly Hazleton couple was involved in a serious crash this afternoon that resulted in one fatality on West Butler Drive in Drums.

A 95-year old woman is dead, and her 95-year-old husband has been taken to Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center, Plains Township, after a one-car accident that occurred at 3:30 p.m. today, according to Butler Township police.

The accident occurred due to a still-unknown “medical event” that the man, the driver of a Nissan Maxima, suffered while driving.

The car hit a utility pole and then a house on West Butler Drive in Drums.

The man, who sustained serious injuries, was transported to Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center, police said.

Names of the victims are not being released since next of kin are out of state and police are still attempting to contact them.
