One person was killed another injured in a multi-vehicle crash late Monday afternoon on Community Road.
The driver of a late-model Kia was killed while the driver of a pickup truck was taken to the hospital with unspecified injuries, according to Mark Sanchez, Poway’s director of safety services.
Sanchez said very preliminary reports indicate the Kia was northbound on Community Road, near Metate Road, when it crossed over into the southbound lane, striking one vehicle then, a short distance away, the pickup truck.
A second, unrelated accident about the same time on the northbound lanes, a little north of the other crash side, resulting in one other injury, Sanchez said.
Deputies closed both sides of Community Road, between Metate Lane and a point just north of Civic Center Drive. It was unknown how long the closure would last.
