Danville, VA : A hit-and-run accident on Monday, July 24, 2017
The Danville Police Department is investigating a hit-and-run accident that occurred Monday afternoon at the intersection of North Main Street and Franklin Turnpike.
According to a news release from Lt. Michael Wallace with the Danville Police Department, a 2001 GMC Yukon with was traveling west on Franklin Turnpike when it “crossed the intersection, disregarding a solid red traffic signal westbound and struck” a 2005 Honda Civic.The Honda “having a green signal, was making a left turn onto Franklin Turnpike when it was struck in the intersection by vehicle,” Wallace said in the release.
After being hit by the Yukon, the Honda then hit a 2002 Cadillac Escalade that was making a right turn off of Franklin Turnpike onto North Main Street, the release stated.
Wallace said the driver of the Yukon fled the accident on foot. He is described as a black man wearing a white T-shirt and blue jeans.
Occupants from the Honda were transported to Danville Regional Medical Center for treatment.
Police are investigating the crash as a hit and run.
