Spanish Fort,AL : High-Speed Chase Ends In A Crash In Baldwin County on August, Sunday 27th 2017

A high-speed chase Sunday afternoon ended in a crash involving Baldwin County Sheriff’s Deputies

Assistant Chief Deputy Anthony Lowery says the suspect was driving a stolen vehicle that was taken from the Belk in Spanish Fort. He led authorities on a pursuit down Highway 225 into the Bay Minette area. Lowery says it appeared the suspect was intentionally trying to hit civilian vehicles. The suspect then intentionally hit a Baldwin County Sheriff’s Department vehicle with two deputies inside. The deputies suffered minor injuries.

The suspect’s car caught on fire. Lowery says the suspect was airlifted from the scene to be treated for his injuries. The suspect’s condition is unknown at this time.

“I watched a couple sheriffs drag the guy out of the car at gunpoint, screaming and hollering and tousling with him,” says David Parker who lives on Highway 225.

Lowery did not release the suspect’s name, but says he has a long criminal record. The Sheriff’s Department is working with the District Attorney’s office to determine what charges the suspect will face.

“He put a lot of people at risk tried to intentionally tried to hit several people. So I think his charges will be severe and numerous,” says Lowery.
