Sumter County, SC : One person killed in single-vehicle crash on Kingsbury Road on Tuesday morning, May 12, 2015

The South Carolina Highway Patrol says one person died in an early morning collision in Sumter County.

The collision happened just before 5 a.m. Tuesday on Kingsbury Road.

According to David Jones with the South Carolina Highway Patrol, the 1998 Lexus 4-door was heading east on Kingsbury Road when the car ran off the left side of the road. The car then swerved across the road and ran off the right side hitting a culvert.

Officials say the driver was not wearing a seat belt and was pronounced dead on the scene.

The Sumter County coroner has identified the driver as Kevin Pleasant. An autopsy is scheduled for Wednesday morning.

The collision remains under investigation by the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
