Portland, OR : One man critically injured after his car crashed and rolled onto its roof on Southeast Powell Boulevard on Friday, January 30, 2015

A man was trapped inside his car Friday morning after it rolled while he was driving on Southeast Powell Boulevard, Portland Fire and Rescue said.

Fire crews arrived at Southeast 174th and Powell at around 10:30 a.m. to find a rolled car near the intersection with a man inside, hanging upside down from his seatbelt.

Officials said the man’s serious injuries called for a fast and careful vehicle extraction.

He was taken to a local trauma center and is in critical condition, officials said.

Firefighters credit the bystanders who called in the crash with giving them thorough information, allowing them to bring the right tools for the job. That extra preparation allowed for a quicker extraction and ultimately a faster trip to the hospital for the crash victim.
