JACKSON COUNTY, MO : Bolivar, Mo. police officer and volunteer injured in crash on Friday, 8th March 2024

An officer with the Bolivar Police Department and a volunteer were injured in a crash involving another Bolivar police cruiser during a funeral procession for a fallen Independence Police Department officer.

According to Bolivar City officials, the officers were driving on I-70 around 2:45 p.m. on Friday when the officer, driving a Bolivar Police SUV, crashed into the rear of a Bolivar Police pickup truck. The truck was stopped for traffic congestion.

The officer was taken to the hospital with moderate injuries, and the volunteer was taken to the hospital with minor injuries. Both were treated and later released. The officer and two other passengers in the truck were not injured.
