Fayette, NY : Seneca Falls woman killed in crash involving car, tractor trailer on a Seneca County road Wednesday, October 26, 2016
One person is dead and two others were injured after their vehicle struck a tractor trailer on a Seneca County road Wednesday.
The Seneca County Sheriff's Office said deputies responded to the crash at 5 p.m. on West River Road in the town of Fayette.
According to a news release, a 1994 GMC tractor trailer driven by Fredrick Jensen, 72, of 1073 Marshall Road, Waterloo, was pulling out of a bean field on the north side of the road heading east. A 2009 Dodge Caliber driven by Floyd Jones, 87, of 40 Green St., Seneca Falls, was heading west when it hit the rear wheels of the tractor trailer.
Authorities said that after the collision, the Caliber came to a rest facing southeast on the north side of the road.
Catherine Olmstead, 55, of 144 Fall St., Apt. 2, Seneca Falls, was the front passenger in the Caliber. She wasn't wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash and was killed on impact, police said.
Samuel Santiago, 33, of 144 Fall St., Apt. 4, Seneca Falls, was riding in the back of the Caliber at the time of the crash. He sustained a hip injury and was transported by ambulance to Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester.
Jones was flown by LifeNet to Strong Memorial Hospital with face and head injuries.
Jensen wasn't injured in the crash.
The sheriff's office is continuing its investigation of the crash.
