Las Vegas, NV : Woman killed, man injured in suspected DUI crash in Spring Valley early Wednesday, January 27, 2016

A woman was killed early Wednesday and a suspected drunken driver in a stolen SUV suffered life-threatening injuries when he ran a red light and crashed into her car, according to Metro Police.

Also according to police:

The crash happened just after 3 a.m. at West Spring Mountain Road and South Rainbow Boulevard. Victor Javier Sandoval, 33, was driving the 2011 GMC Yukon Denali east on Spring Mountain Road in the left lane, west of Rainbow Boulevard, at a “high rate of speed.” Police were not pursuing him when he crashed.

A 2014 Nissan Sentra driven by a 43-year-old woman was southbound on Rainbow Boulevard in the left lane, north of Spring Mountain. The SUV struck the Nissan in the intersection, causing both vehicles to roll over into a parking lot.

Sandoval was taken to University Medical Center. The woman, who has not been identified, was pronounced dead at the scene.

This is the ninth traffic-related fatality in Metro Police’s jurisdiction this year. The crash remains under investigation.
