Perry, UT : Idaho man dies from injuries in a crash on Interstate 15 near the Perry rest area on Friday, December 4, 2015

A 43-year-old Idaho man died from injuries he suffered Friday when his vehicle was rear-ended on Interstate 15 near the Perry rest area.

The Utah Highway Patrol said in a news release that southbound traffic was slowed to a near stop and backed up because of two minor accidents. At about 3:55 p.m., the driver of an SUV going south, who did not notice the stopped traffic, changed lanes and hit the back of a Ford Focus at near freeway speeds, according to the release.

That car was pushed into the median and the SUV then hit the back of another vehicle, the release said. The driver of the Focus, Jesse McKenney, of Victor, Idaho, suffered severe injuries and was taken to McDay Dee Hospital in Ogden, where he later died.

The SUV driver and three children in her vehicle were taken to Brigham Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and the driver of the second vehicle that was hit was checked at the scene and released, the highway patrol said.
