LIMERICK, ME : Cornish motorcyclist dies in Limerick crash on Friday, September 8, 2017
A 66-year-old Cornish man died Friday afternoon when the motorcycle he was operating crashed into a tractor trailer on Central Avenue, Route 11 in Limerick.
Late Friday, York County Sheriff William King said that Jay Traunig was operating a 2016 Ducati motorcycle heading east on Central Avenue, toward the center of town, when the crash took place.
“It appears that Traunig attempted to pass the tractor trailer after it had initiated a left had turn,” said King. Traunig, whom King said was not wearing a helmet, crashed into the driver's side of the truck, which was operated by David Zaitlin, 65, of Saco.
Traunig was killed instantly.
