BRENTWOOD, CA : Man was killed and two other people injured in a head-on vehicle collision on Monday, 7th September, 2020

A 21-year-old Antioch man was killed and two other people injured Monday afternoon in a head-on vehicle collision on Highway 4, the California Highway Patrol said.

The man killed was identified by the coroner’s office as Makeal Surrell.

The collision happened at about 4:56 p.m. Monday on Highway 4, east of Balfour Road.

The CHP said it was determined a gray 2008 Nissan Ultima driven by Surrell was going eastbound when it went across the solid double yellow lines into oncoming traffic where it collided with a 2011 Hyundai Santa Fe going westbound.


Surrell was pronounced dead at the scene.
