Franklin, TN : Trooper injured in I-65 crash on Tuesday morning, January 5, 2016
A state trooper suffered non-life threatening injuries after being involved in an accident on Interstate 65 in Franklin Tuesday morning.
A lieutenant with the Tennessee Highway Patrol told News 2 at the scene that a woman had pulled over and was broken down by a concrete wall just before 8 a.m.
She called for a tow truck and Trooper Eric Pincince stopped to help.
According to authorities, a black SUV travelling north on I-65, just before 96 East, tried to move over, but could not.
The driver over corrected and went into the median before attempting to swerve to avoid hitting Pincince.
The SUV rear-ended the trooper’s patrol car and overturned onto its side.
A third vehicle tried to avoid the crash but couldn’t and hit the wall before striking the black SUV.
Pincince and the other two drivers involved in the accident were all taken to Williamson Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.
All of the drivers involved in the crash were wearing their seat belts at the time.
A preliminary report by the Tennessee Highway Patrol states the driver of the flipped SUV could face charges.
Interstate 65 was closed as crews worked the scene. All lanes reopened to motorists Tuesday afternoon.
