Eighty Eight, KY : Church damaged in crash at the Burkesville Road in the Eighty-Eight community on Tuesday, 21st January, 2020

At approximately 5:30 a.m. Tuesday, the Barren County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to an accident with injury along the Burkesville Road in the Eighty-Eight community.

Preliminary investigation indicates that Paul Chaplin, 59, of Monticello, was operating a 2016 Kenworth westbound when he fell asleep causing the vehicle to travel off the left side of the roadway. The vehicle continued off road before striking the front porch of the Refuge Church of Christ where after Chaplin was able to regain control of the truck and got it to a complete stop, said a press release from the sheriff’s office.

Chaplin was treated for minor injuries sustained in the accident. Barren- Metcalfe County Emergency Medical Service, Barren County Emergency Management and the Temple Hill Volunteer Fire Department also responded to the scene, the press release said.
