The Fort Bragg soldier who died Tuesday morning after a motorcycle accident Monday evening was an 82nd Airborne Division Paratrooper.
Pfc. Holden Jeffrey Philbrook, 19, of Citrus Heights, California, was an indirect fire infantryman with 2nd Battalion, 325th Airborne Infantry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, according to a Fort Bragg news release.
"Pfc. Philbrook was a dedicated paratrooper that will be sorely missed by everyone in the battalion," Lt. Col. Bradley L. Boyd, commander of 2nd Battalion, 325th AIR, said in the release. "Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends during this time of great and unexpected loss."
Philbrook joined the Army in May 2014.
He completed Infantry One Station Unit Training at Fort Benning, Georgia, in August.
He was assigned to 2nd BCT in November and lived on Ardennes Street on Fort Bragg.
Philbrook was traveling on Cliffdale Road, from Bunce Road, toward Seventy-First School Road when he ran into a Toyota Tundra driven by 32-year-old Gordon Frank Gardner of the 6500 block of Brookstone Lane, around 6:30 p.m. Monday, police said.
Gardner, who was not injured, was turning left into the Brookstone Apartments, police said.
Police said Wednesday the crash is still under investigation. No charges have been filed.
Philbrook's awards and decorations include the National Defense Service Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, the Army Service Ribbon and the Parachutist Badge.
