Orange, CT : A West Haven man died early sunday crash at Derby Avenue On Sunday, July 24th, 2016

A West Haven man died early Sunday after he reportedly lost control of his speeding car and slammed into a large boulder and a fence in Orange.

Abraham Evans, 22, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, which was reported just after midnight Sunday on Derby Avenue near Racebook Road, Orange police said on their Facebook page.

Police said their initial investigation shows Evans was westbound on Derby Avenue, also known as Route 34, toward Derby when he lost control of the car and went off the road, hitting the boulder and fence. He was traveling

at a high rate of speed, police said.

Orange volunteer firefighters extricated Evans from the wreckage before he pronounced dead.

Police are continuing to investigate what happened. Anyone who witnessed the crash or who has information about what happened is asked to call Officer John Reshotnik at (203) 891-2130.
