Cleveland, OH : Teen crashes stolen vehicle into Tremont bar, seriously injuring patron on Friday evening September 5th 2014
A group of teens are behind bars after police say they crashed a stolen vehicle into a Tremont bar, seriously injuring a patron who was sitting on a patio.
The crash happened around 7:10 p.m. Friday outside of the Clark Bar, located at the intersection on W. 12th Street and Clark Street.
Police say Shamyrah Crawford, 18, was driving a stolen Jeep with three teenaged passengers, when she failed to stop at a stop sign and collided into a car.
The stolen Jeep then went over the curb, crashing through a fenced patio and striking a patron.
The patron, a 52-year-old man, was transported to MetroHealth Medical Center in serious condition. The driver of the right-of-way car was also transported to the hospital for treatment.
Police say Crawford and the three teenaged girls - ages 14, 15 and 16 - led police on a short foot pursuit after fleeing from the scene.
The young suspects were arrested and booked into jail on a grand theft of motor vehicle charge.
Officers say Crawford will also face a charge of aggravated vehicular assault, among other traffic violations.
