Franklin County, MS : 60-year-old Lawrence Brown died in crash on U.S. 84 near Clear Springs Road on Friday morning, June 17, 2016

The Mississippi Highway Patrol is investigating an accident that left one man dead Friday morning. Corporal Brandon Fortenberry with MHP says the fatal accident happened around 10:50 a.m. on U.S. 84 in Franklin County.

Fortenberry said 60-year-old Lawrence Brown was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities say Brown was driving a 2007 Kia and traveling east on U.S. 84 near Clear Springs Road, when the vehicle left the roadway and struck a tree.

The accident is still under investigation.
