Modesto, CA: 3 Sacramento teens injured in Modesto crash on Thursday, July 30th 2015
A Sacramento teenager was badly hurt and two others suffered minor to moderate injuries in a single-vehicle rollover accident on northbound Highway 99 early Thursday.The crash occurred about 1 a.m. just north of Briggsmore Avenue, said Modesto Fire Department Battalion Chief Tim Tietjen. The driver of the car lost control, hit the center divide and flipped several times, he said.California Highway Patrol Officer Eric Parsons could confirm only that it was a rollover crash.Nineteen-year-old Jessica Martinez of Sacramento was driving the 1992 Toyota Celica, Parsons said. She was not wearing a seat belt, was ejected from the car, suffered a severe leg injury and was transported to Doctors Medical Center, he said.Front-seat passenger Elyssa Rodriguez, 18, and rear passenger Diandra Perez, 16, were transported with minor to moderate injuries, Parsons said. Both were wearing seat belts and also are from Sacramento.All occupants were out of the vehicle and conscious when responders arrived on the scene, Tietjen said.Investigators had not determined whether speed or alcohol or drugs were factors in the crash, Parsons said Thursday.
