Pennington Gap, VA : Pedestrian killed in car crash in Lee County on Tuesday December 29 2015

A fatal Lee County crash that occurred early Tuesday is being investigated by the Virginia State Police.
VSP Trooper M.C. Munsey is investigating the incident that occurred at 2 a.m. on Route 58A less than a mile west of Route 643.A 2010 Ford Focus was traveling east on Route 58A in the left lane when it encountered a pedestrian in the travel lane. Police say the vehicle was unable to avoid the man who was standing in the road and not wearing any reflective clothing.
The pedestrian, Phillip S. Ely, 37, of Pennington Gap, died at the scene.
The driver of the Ford, Ceonia M. Webb, 22, of Pennington Gap, was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment of minor injuries. She was wearing a seat belt. Her 26-year-old female passenger was also transported for treatment of minor injuries. She was not wearing a seat belt.
