Siler City, N.C : Man seriously injured in wreck near Chatham Central on Monday, March 6, 2017

A 35-year-old man was in critical condition Monday in a Chapel Hill hospital after he wrecked his pickup south of Siler City on Saturday.

Francis Daniel Ruiz-Salazar of Fayetteville was driving northeast on N.C. 902 near Chatham Central High School just after 8 p.m. when his truck ran off the right side of the road, according to a report by Trooper Brandon Albertson of the N.C. Highway Patrol. Ruiz-Salazar overcorrected and the truck came back onto the road, went left of center and off the left side of the road, where it struck a ditch and several trees and then overturned.

Ruiz-Salazar, who is in the U.S. Army and stationed at Ft. Bragg, was airlifted to UNC Hospitals. Albertson reported that speed was a factor in the accident.
