BRIDGEPORT, CT : Headed To Hospital, Couple Crashes Outside Door, Is Treated In ER on Monday July 7th 2014

An elderly couple has been treated at Bridgeport Hospital's emergency room, after crashing their car into a fence just outside its door.

The couple, whose names have not been released, were not planning a trip to the hospital at the time of Monday morning's accident.

The car had been travelling toward Boston Avenue when it went off the road and became lodged at the top of the iron fence, above a handicapped ramp in front of the emergency department.

Dr. Rock Ferrigno, the chief of the department, says the man and woman were taken the few feet into the emergency room, examined and then released.

Hospital spokesman John Cappiello says damage was limited to the car and the fence.
