PELION, SC : Augusta man killed after crash with tow truck in Pelion on Tuesday, 27th June 2023

An Augusta man has died following a crash in Lexington County Tuesday afternoon, according to the Lexington County Coroner's Office and the SC Highway Patrol.

Officials say Walter Wilkins, 63, died after his tractor-trailer hit a tow truck that was attempting to turn onto Fairview Rd from Bub Shumpert Rd at around 3 p.m. on June 27.

The driver of the tow truck was taken to a nearby hospital with serious injuries, however, Wilkins was pronounced dead at the scene from his injuries.
