Bovina, TX : Boy killed, six injured in a crash between a minivan and a tractor-trailer in Parmer County on Thursday, July 7, 2016
An 8-year-old boy was killed and six others were injured on Thursday in a crash between a minivan and a tractor-trailer east of Bovina in Parmer County.
Texas Department of Public Safety said Nita Patel, 37, of Clovis, N.M, was driving the minivan and failed to yield the right of way at a stop sign and pulled out in front of the tractor-trailer.
Patel and four other passengers in the minivan were transported to a local hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. The boy was ejected from the minivan and killed.
The tractor trailer, driven by Mario Mena, 44, of Hereford, rolled onto its side after impact, Sgt. Dan Buesing said. He also was taken to a hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
Everyone involved in the crash was wearing a seat belt.
DPS continues to investigate the crash. The crash occurred around 8 a.m. near the intersection of highways 86 and 214.
