A Lubbock police officer was hospitalized with minor injuries after a two-vehicle crash Friday morning in West Lubbock.
At approximately 10:30 a.m., the officer notified dispatch that he had been involved in a collision with a SUV in the 6300 block of 19th Street, said Lubbock police spokeswoman Tiffany Pelt.
“The officer driving a marked LPD pickup truck was traveling westbound on 19th Street,” she said. “A 21-year-old male driving a Chevy Tahoe attempted to pull out of a business driveway on the north side of 19th Street.”
As the Tahoe turned left on 19th Street across the westbound lanes, he struck the LPD pick-up truck, according to police.
Pelt said the officer suffered minor injuries and was taken to University Medical Center by another police officer. The 21-year-old male refused treatment by paramedics and was issued a citation for failure to yield the right of way. Police did not identify the officer or the other driver.
