Suffield, CT : Passenger injured in Suffield crash on Monday, May 2, 2016
A passenger was injured early today when a driver who possibly fell asleep at the wheel veered off Thrall Avenue and struck a utility pole, which caused the car to rollover, police said.
The passenger was taken to Hartford Hospital while the driver refused medical treatment, Lt. Ryan Burrell said. An update on the passenger’s condition was not available. Police did not release the names of the passenger or the driver.
Thrall Avenue was closed following the crash, which occurred around 2:30 a.m., Burrell said. The driver, who had been heading west when the crash occurred, appears to have fallen asleep at the wheel, the lieutenant said.
The driver said that he and his passenger were returning from an event, and he didn’t remember the accident, Burrell said.
The road was closed while a utility crew worked to replace the pole, he said.
