A 45-year-old Austell woman was killed Friday evening in a two-vehicle crash on the East-West Connector at Brookwood Drive, according to Cobb Police.
Investigators believe the crash, which happened at about 5:39 p.m., saw a black 2016 Dodge Durango traveling eastbound on the East-West Connector drive through a red light and strike a gold 2002 Honda Accord turning left to go westbound on the connector, said Sgt. Dana Pierce, spokesperson for Cobb Police.
After being struck, the Honda, driven by Lakeisha Clark, traveled up and onto the raised concrete median where it stopped after the rear bumper collided with a sign. Clark was taken to WellStar Cobb Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
The Dodge’s driver, 33-year-old M.D. Shafiullah of Atlanta, was taken by ambulance to WellStar Kennestone Hospital where he was treated for non-life threatening injuries.
