Jacksonville, TX : Fatal wreck on Loop 456 kills Jacksonville man on Monday, 7th November 2016

A Jacksonville man died early Monday morning after being hit by a vehicle on Loop 456, according to officials.

Arvel Dwayne Partain, 59, was pronounced dead at the scene by Precinct 1 Justice of the Peace Brenda Dominy. The wreck was reported about 6:45 a.m.

Jacksonville Police Detective Greg Compton said Partain was believed to have been walking or jogging along the paved shoulder of the road when he was hit by a vehicle.

Compton said the Chevrolet passenger car was traveling on the loop towards US Highway 79 when the wreck occurred near Glenfawn Street and Loop 456.

The driver of the vehicle was named as Colton Renfro of Rusk. Officials believe Renfro may have fallen asleep at the wheel.

Compton said the investigation is ongoing.
