Cass County, TX : Arkansas couple killed in a crash between a car and semi-truck on US 59 near south of Atlanta on Sunday, Nov 29, 2015

An Arkansas couple was killed in a crash Sunday in Cass County, Texas.

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, it happened just after 12 p.m. on US 59 about 4 miles south of Atlanta, TX.

The TX DPS crash investigation found that the driver of a 2009 Hyundai Azera lost control as he was heading north on US 59 and hydroplaned across the median and into the southbound lane where the car was struck by a southbound semi-trailer.

The driver of the Hyundai was pronounced dead at the scene. He has since been identified as 65-year-old Walton Wayne Johnson of Mountain View, AR.

His passenger, 62-year-old Serelda Faye Johnson was taken to St. Michael's Hospital in Atlanta, where she was pronounced dead at 1:43 p.m.

The driver of the truck-tractor towing the semi-trailer, identified as 50-year-old Randy Brumlow of Memphis, TN was not seriously injured.
