Texarkana man killed after train hits vehicle

A Texarkana man is dead after his vehicle was struck by a train near Lewisville.Robert A. Collins, 60, stopped his 2010 Chrysler on the train tracks while crossing Red Oak Street in Lewisville at 7:53 a.m. Wednesday morning, according to a Arkansas State Police report.
Collins attempted to back up off the tracks but was hit in the driver’s side of his vehicle by the train before he could get out of the way, state police said. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Collins was the 378th person to die in a traffic accident in Arkansas this year, according to preliminary Arkansas State Police figures.
