Omaha, NE : 8-year-old boy in critical condition after 3-vehicle crash in Omaha on Monday, August 7, 2017

An 8-year-old Omaha boy remained in critical condition Monday after a three-vehicle collision Sunday afternoon at 99th Street and Blair High Road, police said.

The boy, Ayden Jones, suffered a potentially life-threatening head injury, said Omaha Police Sgt. Chuck Casey, an accident investigator.

Three others were injured in the crash, including a 6-year-old boy, Adrian Jones, a relative of Ayden's, police said. Both boys were taken by ambulance to the Nebraska Medical Center. Adrian was treated and released.

Also injured in the crash were Cenia A. Donley, 58, of Omaha, and Alma Gonzalez-Morales, 37, of Lexington, Nebraska. Donley, also a relative of the boys, was taken to the Nebraska Medical Center and later released. Gonzalez-Morales was taken by private vehicle to Immanuel Medical Center, treated for a leg injury and released, Casey said.

The collision was reported at 2:11 p.m.

A blue 2008 Honda Civic, driven by Donley with the Joneses as passengers, had been heading west on Blair High Road and was stopped at the intersection of 99th Street, waiting to turn left at a green light.

As the traffic signal changed from yellow to red, the Civic started turning left, he said, but an eastbound green 2004 Ford Explorer Sport Trac ran a red light and collided with the passenger-side rear door of the Civic.

The Civic then collided with the front end of a black 2012 Jeep Liberty that had been stopped on northbound 99th Street at the intersection.

Gonzalez-Morales was a passenger in the Explorer. The driver, 16-year-old Victor Dominguez-Gonzalez of Lexington, did not report any injuries, nor did the Jeep's driver, 33-year-old Archie D. Scott of Omaha.
