A 16-year-old Cowpens girl was killed in an accident Saturday night on the Blue Ridge Parkway near Asheville, N.C.
The National Park Service said rangers responded to a report of a motor vehicle accident near Milepost 394 at about 10:25 p.m. Saturday.
One vehicle, driven by a 21-year-old male and traveling northbound in a group of four vehicles, attempted to pass another car in the group, according to the Park Service.
The passing vehicle lost control on a curve, left the roadway and rolled about 200 feet down an embankment, the Park Service said.
