Midlothian, TX: 2-vehicle accident injures 3 in Midlothian on Monday, July 20th 2015
Three people were transported to area hospitals after sustaining injuries from a two-vehicle accident Monday.Emergency crews were dispatched at about 10 a.m. to the intersection of Walnut Grove Road and U.S. Highway 287.When firefighters arrived on scene, they found the vehicles on the north side of the intersection, said Phillip Brancato, Midlothian Assistant Fire Chief. Firefighters had to use tools to safely remove the driver of the Dodge Dakota from the truck.“Firefighters had to force the door open with hydraulic tools and then displace the dash because his lower extremities were trapped,” Brancato said.A helicopter from PHI Air Medical transported the driver to Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas. The two passengers in the Dodge were able to get out of the vehicle on their own but were taken by ground ambulance to Children’s Medical Center of Dallas. The two male occupants in the Ford F-350 were not injured.At the time of the accident, the Ford was traveling southbound on U.S. Highway 287 and was turning left onto Walnut Grove Road, said Sgt. Nick Harp, a spokesperson for the Midlothian Police Department. Then the Dodge traveling northbound on U.S. Highway 287 stuck the Ford. The cause of the accident is still under investigation by the Midlothian Police Department at this time.
